GRPS was designed by architects Blackmann & Varney and built in an Italianate style in 1883 to relieve pressure on Paddington Public School. Our school included a master's cottage which is now used as The Cottage (OSHC).  In 1902 an infants school was added.  Our school motto is Vitai lampada -  The Torch of Life.
